We start
life as an open book
writing our story page by page
trying to find the perfect hook
meeting characters upon life’s stage
seasons and
scenery changes
plots twist intensifying chapters
time, setting and theme rearrange
fragile relationships may shatter
attentive readers need a closer look
read between the finely written lines
not all writers are an open book
perhaps a story-line is sublime
inked pages all is
not as it seems
penned are my daily wanderings
in my book brimming with dreams
hidden are my deepest ponderings
written for WD 2026 April Pad Challenge Day 3
For today's prompt, take the phrase "Open (blank)," replace the blank
with a new word or phrase, make the new phrase the title of your poem,
and then, write your poem.
And your book is more beautiful than most.
