Where Does Love Go

where does love go
does it transform into grief
my heart longs to know

why does it no longer grow
drifting away like a dying leaf
where does love go

should we ask the crows
love is a mysterious thief
my heart longs to know

gone in the afterglow
in the sadness of disbelief
where does love go

sipping a glass of Merlot
why is its song brief
my heart longs to know

does it sleep in a meadow
will dreams bring relief
where does love go
my heart longs to know

Your challenge is to take the title of your poem from the question ‘Where does love go when it goes?’ or ‘Where does love go?’ and answer it in your poem.

Also, fits the WD 2026 April Pad Challenge Day 14

For the second Two-for-Tuesday prompt:

  • Write a poetic form poem and/or...
  • Write an anti-form poem.

  1. I enjoyed the ending stanza lines alternating repetition and song like words! I also personally enjoy any poem that mentions crows, this is a well crafted and perfect articulation of todays prompt, Truedessa!

  3. Poignant and beautiful, True. "Drifting away like a drying leaf." But I have to believe, love still lives on somehow, in our hearts.
