Drawing Hands, 1948 by M. C. Escher |
pencil lightly
held
sketching hands
I know them well
each finger
each curve
each knuckle
each nail
I know their pleasure
flowing through veins
jumping off the page
I know them well
they have
felt the textures of life
cupped cool water for a drink
picked wildflowers in a meadow
built sandcastles to hold knights
lingered on a
lover's warm skin
I know their sorrow
wrought with angst
lines filled with pain
I know them well
they have
carried days of hard work
held a dying
human hand
felt the slap of
injustice
trembled in fear
Hands...
changing over the years
changing over the years
I know them well
holding our fingerprints
leaving identifying marks
on all we touch
in the journey of life
in the journey of life

DeleteHands can do much
ReplyDeleteReach out and touch
Or feel along the way
To a certain bay
But the surely hold a story
In glory or even gory
adding more each year
On this sphere
Holding hands
Deleteon the way to
a certain bay
might be nice
one day...
Never know what can take hold
DeleteSound hands ever fill with gold
And a trail of their fingerprints show where they've been, so let's hear it for the good guys! :)
ReplyDeleteNice Mag...
Cad,
DeleteWell that is an interesting reply..thanks for visiting.
Hands can do and say so much more than words often can. I wrote something similar in another comment, but it rings true here as well. I think one of the first things that attracted me to my husband was his hands... :)
ReplyDeleteGood Morning Margaret,
DeleteThat is so true are hands can communicate in a very special way. Thank you for your comment.
hands are so evocative...and tell you so much of a person...and how they use them all the more...and those touches we leave...they def shape destinies....
ReplyDeleteHi Brian,
DeleteHow are you today? Our hand prints in the journey of life..hopefully, we will leave memorable touches.

Necessary to take ownership on what one does or aspires to be. There's then more likelihood one is successful. Nicely Trudessa!
