Travelers Moon

courtesy of Pixabay

Autumn the season of the travelers moon
exhausted, softly falling into a bed of leaves
crossing the threshold of a mid-night dream
strolling the fields of heaven's colorful hills
notes of the harmonious evergreens fills the air

Under a canopy of red, yellow and orange
a welcoming baptizing spray of radiant light
how many moons will it take to reach the peak
wise owl watches intensely in the shadows
gatekeeper flapping between the two worlds

Ushering in change before the bitter frost
the dying leaves, crunch under pressure
searching an old orchard for a sign of life
planting seeds of intention in the night
harvesting dreams can be difficult work

the fruit of the journey is the sweet reward

Wild Soul

Autumn

What do you know of my wild soul
it longs to soar with the birds up high
it longs to swim, with gills and fins
with the creatures of the river/sea

what if the birds all disappeared
what if the waterways simply dried up

What do you know of my wild soul
my inner desire to commune with nature
sitting on a mountaintop, on an autumn day
watching the squirrels and deer nearby

what if the trees were no longer here
what if there were no nuts or berries

What do you know of my wild soul
it follows the flute's sweet serenade
embracing a time where love reigned
dreaming under stars and moonlit sky

what if the music ceased to play
what if the stars no longer burned bright

What do you know of my wild soul
beating within me the poetry of life
leaving breadcrumbs in the journey
so you might know my wild soul....

A Single Red Rose

Courtesy of Pixabay

"To her,  death is quite romantic".  Lily has seen her share of farewells, pruning the rosebushes on Cemetery Hill.  Here they gather in their mourning clothes.  Wearing sunglasses to hide their mist filled eyes. A griever prays his lover will make it safely to the other side, of now. Poetry flows from the tongue of loss. A song occasionally,  can be heard whispering through the willow boughs.  Fresh flowers adorn the site. The heavenly scent drifts to the living.  To her,  it is beautiful when a single red rose falls, a sign of enduring love.  Lily searches the sky wiping her tears while, listening to the sweet refrain of the morning rain.

Autumn Leaves

There is a place beyond my drum
where ancient songs softly hum
gateway to shamanic mysteries

On this medicine wheel of hope
here the wild spirited wolf roams
between ocean and forest foams
black bear saunters at his own pace
should he worry about the human race
red tail soars the mourning ashen sky
searching for blue somewhere up high
in the distance buffalo hooves rumble
somewhere a piece of earth crumbles

There is a place beyond my drum
where heartfelt dreams thump
gateway to unknown peripheries

On this earth wheel of love
we continuously circle
on the sacred land of the turtle
from the stormy sea of loss
barefoot standing on spongy moss
the willow can only bend so much
before she breaks at a mere touch
a thorn is a thorn a reminder of pain
in the turbulent autumn relentless rain

There is a place beyond my drum
where ancient stories come from
gateway to natural synergy

On this earth wheel of dreams
traveling the waterway of birth
writing page one of life on earth
through the changing seasons of life
the heavens guide us towards light
growing and reaching new height
chapters in between are ours to write
searching for the poetry of inner art
hoping to find love before we depart

There is a place beyond my drum
where heaven and earth become one
it is a place I wish you could see....

Autumn Bouquet

The Sunday Muse

On tip-toe nail, come walk with me
under nature's bountiful canopy
bouquet of colored autumn leaves
a song of gentleness, I weave

there is no need for sharp arrows
would you silence the sparrows
into my world, I offer you an invite
guiding you towards wondrous light

leading you to fresh reflective waters
drink in its wonder, see what if offers
the ability of regeneration, is a gift
in the clearing, dark clouds will lift

a song of gentleness, I weave
bouquet of colored autumn leaves
under nature's bountiful canopy
a song of gentleness, I weave

Listen
hear with open ears the poetry of my heart

 Move
slowly to the beat of love's abstract art

Hold
in cupped hands, the promises of today

Remember
memories of us, may they never fade away

Arizona Dreaming

Photo by Shantanu Pal on Pexels.com

Today, I am Arizona dreaming
to a place where hints of yellow-
orange saffron, cinnamon, nutmeg
dappled with vibrant paprika
airbrush the panoramic view

Traveling Airport Messa Road
following the map of past
experience to sacred land
feeling the swirling energy
as it brings healing...watching
the sun dip beyond the giant
cathedral as the bell rock
chimes in the background

Today, I am Arizona dreaming
meditating in the realms of my
heart, soul and mind,  balancing
with earth’s energy, a shaman
whispers through the canyon
of inner thought

Traveling the scenic trails of
yesterday, opening space to enjoy
the spices of love & life; utilizing
the power of intuition and senses
in the quest for harmony and peace
in a world of rocky terrain

writing poetry using words from a spice list
I used, Arizona Dreaming, saffron, cinnamon
paprika and  nutmeg,   Hosted by Merril

author's note:  I didn't know Arizona Dreaming
was a spice but, it took me back to a trip I took
to Sedona. It was a spiritual journey for me.
