Sing to us mother earth
in the songs of the birds
chirping together in harmony

Sing to us mother earth
in the songs of the oceans
full of rhythm and waves

  Sing to us mother earth
in the songs of the trees
raw and organic in nature

 Sing to us mother earth
in the songs of the mountains
filled with low and high tones

Sing to us mother earth
in the songs of ancient tongues
spirited ballads of yesterday

Sing to us mother earth
in the songs of the heart
beating to the drum of life

It is my hope we will hear her songs and sing a long

  that won't break

chalk me a rainbow

   that won't fade

chalk me a dream

   that won't disappear

chalk me a love

   that won't end

chalk me a world

 that won't wash away

chalk me a life

  filled with vibrant colors

Enchanted Moose on the Loose

Beyond the burnt red sky
puffy eyes laden with tears
my heart heaves a long sigh

there is a place I have seen
past the crumbling rubble
there's a forest of lush green

here the white moose roams
his hooves the only noise I hear
steadfast in his natural home

strong and full of confidence
growing antlers, the cycle of life
living each day in peace and silence

light illuminates through the trees
fireflies flutter under moon's glow
enchantment in a soft spring breeze

"dare I rest for this one night
slumber in the magic of a dream"

Shadow Prey

The Sunday Muse

 

Darkness sweeps across the sky

shadows of you and I  creep past

in this lonely room of heartbreak

sharp talons wait, a  bird of prey

 

in the corner shapes take form

hints of imagination begin to stir

in this altered reality,  breathing

shallow caws, a blackbird's song

 

wandering the internal labyrinth

in the distance a black moon rises

drifting into a  conscious slumber

surrealism appears beyond the veil

 

there under a massive bonsai tree

an oracle of insight with long graying hair

wisdom interwoven in his braided beard

ushering me to sit across from him

 

pouring a warm cup of ancient tea

bowing my head , sipping its flavor

his eyes green emeralds of the sea

touching my heart of indigo blue

 

a soft flutter of mending wings

cupped within my  hands of hope

light filters through the dark void

opening my palms, taking flight

freeing the captive within 

 

Author's note:  I have had a rough week and part of this poem
is from a dream encounter.  Wishing you peace & health

Bassan's inner world is unraveling
melodies of his life changing tempo
stars remotely burn, emptiness traveling

Tremors of yesterdays haunt his mind
deep inside his heart, unspoken words
a guarded sanctuary, he alone can find

 Venturing on a humanitarian mission
channeling breaths of spiritual energy
wondering if dusky clouds impair his vision

Deciphering ancient technological codes
wandering the fringes of a celestial sphere
unlocking cosmic secrets an uneasy road

An interstice left open, hints of possibility
summoning courage in challenging areas
testing the outer boundaries of his ability

 Cold darkness prevails in absence of light
lost society paralyzed by debilitating fear
maneuvering faith in the corridors of night

Rocking an unstable planet, a twist of fate
exploring keys in the search for freedom
battling time and space before it's too late

 Bassan must command unmanageable forces
overcoming his own walls of self doubt
installing hope, altering Ugar's course

Can a hero shine in time to save the planet
buy the book and journey into space
no need to panic, just relax and enjoy it
