It's been a sweltering day, Jim takes in the view of the desert
sun. Sipping hard whiskey
quenching his thirst from a long day's work. The lines on his face show his years and
the calluses on his hands proof life was filled with rough
labor. He pulls the tip of his hat
over his eyes remembering days long ago.
over his eyes remembering days long ago.
He was younger then and in love with a rancher's daughter. They would meet by the
watering hole as the sun started to dip over the horizon. She loved it when the sky
was splashed with brilliant orange and yellow hues. He would recite poetic verses
in the night. Their bodies sang songs that only they could hear. Oh, sweet Rosita
was his piece of paradise in this desert land.
He drifts back, a cow is screaming across the arroyo and he is alone.
