Dark Spaces
In the closet deep and dark
lies a monster within the walls
in the night hours he makes a call
to whom will he leave his mark
he hides deep within your mind
playing games of hide and seek
do you really want to take a peek
disturbing thoughts you might find
within the labyrinth corridors
this monster has many schemes
creates various twisted scenes
gray and dark mesh in horror
can you out play his witty game
here I am, where
are you
lace up your running shoes
no one really remains the same
within the monster of shame
we all fall prey to fright
in the dark hours of night
struggling to remain sane
Nice rhyme and flow
ReplyDeleteAt your show
As those eyes glare
And certainly stare
Those monsters can be of our own making
As the legs start shaking
Pat,
DeleteYou have a knack for being first at my show and yes those eyes sure do glow. Thanks my friend for your support!
no one stays the same...so true isnt it...shame def will eat you up....guilt...it will wait in the closet til you least expect it and come slithering in...smiles....i agree with pat too...they can be of our own making...
ReplyDeleteHi Brian,
DeleteIt is true that closet holds some skeletons for sure and will come out when you least expect it..better keep that door under lock and key. Thanks for stopping in to read.
I like the depth in the last stanza. And how you move from a little lighthearted rhymes to that end is very good.
ReplyDeleteHi,
DeleteThanks so much for the read and reply..tis nice to see you on my wall.
Nice approach to these beasts we all have to face eventually. And why is it worse at night? Good job.
ReplyDeleteHello,
DeleteInteresting question. Why do these monsters surface more at night? Thank you for the read and reply.
Those monsters are hard to fight and yes, we have to struggle to keep them away from us ~ Good to see you at D'verse ~
ReplyDeleteHi Grace
DeleteMonsters can be big or small but, we all fear them now and then. Take care..
... nice and it's our own fears that linger
ReplyDeleteWolfsrosebud,
DeleteThank you for reading and the reply. I agree our own fears linger to haunt us.

ReplyDeleteI just saw a Picasso exhibit at the Museum of Fine Arts in Houston. That "closet deep and dark," must be were Picasso found his genius. On another note, having the courage to face that place in our psyche can bring balance and healing.
ReplyDeleteHi Jessica
DeleteI always enjoy your perspective as we tend to think along the same lines. I agree balance is essential to our well being in the journey of life. Thank you for reading my work and your continued support.
Bright Blessings
