Rare Blue Moon

Free The Night Full Moon illustration and picture

I anxiously await the super blue moon a rare sight amongst the stars.  Will the sky be kind and lift these heavy clouds that seem to hover? Illuminating the heavens to see the bigger picture far beyond reality. Welcoming the creative side of my thought well, my words flow in free form.

Under the blue moon one can dare to dream in the sacred places of the heart.  Become the voyager of the seen and unseen.  In stillness listen to the spirits of light and abandon darkness.  There is an inner story waiting to unfurl on the wings of night.

Once in a blue moon dreams really do come true! Do you believe?

Owl hooting
magic and wisdom are yours

Chasing a Dream

She headed out early on a hot and humid summer morning.  Yearning to experience the rush of the mighty Niagara Falls.  She had sent him a message to meet her at the Fallsview Casino.  Maddening thoughts racing through her mind as she navigated the busy highway.  Would he show up?  So many lost opportunities.

Suddenly, the clouds grew dark, the radio warning of a fast- approaching storm. Traffic holding its breath, sky a tense diaphragm. Her heart rapidly beating, she tried to control each inhale and exhale. Perhaps, this wasn't the best of plans.  The clouds exploded with pounding rain, flashes of lightning and roaring thunder.  Clenching the steering wheel, praying to the heavens for this one dream. To see him face to face, heart to heart, breath to breath.

Surely, this storm-chase would pass and bring sunshine and an arc of hope.

Barefoot in the Rain

Free Barefoot Feet photo and picture

Have you ever walked in the rain
feeling pain
Would you wish those gray clouds away
for today
Could you sing songs of summer fun
on the run

dreaming of you and the sun
drying salty tears from my eyes
loving you is hard to deny
feeling pain, for today, on the run

Summer Pops With Thoughts of You

Free Dragon-Fly Blue photo and picture

On a summer day
under skies of blue
surrounded by mountains
in green hues
drifting on the river
of mystical dreams

immersing myself
in the serenity of nature
a dragonfly lands on my hand
a small creature
thoughts of you pop
into my head

Blooming Onion

Blooming Onion - Pioneer Woman

Oh, sweet onion, why do you make me cry
peeling your silky layers, wiping my eyes
cutting pieces of you and I….

I look out my window the roses in bloom
longing to smell  their heady perfume
but, here I am inhaling pungent fumes

You should be a blooming desert flower
I’ll transform you, soak you for an hour
batter and fry you, dip you in sauce sweet & sour

Your delicate petals will surely be devoured
on lips you will leave smiles, oh, sweet flower

Twelve Thoughts

Twelve years of poetry has come to pass
writing words from the depths of our hearts
every thought counted, no matter the form
lyrical songs waltzed across the pages
verses pulsated with enchantment and despair
every poem a creative gift; a work of art

Beyond the Veil

Free Stairs Stone photo and picture

I dreamt of a stairway to heaven
but I couldn't find it through the haze
heard it was a place where all is forgiven
guardians above the sisters of seven

I met a wizard in an enchanted forest
tell me, do you ever hear the stars
how would I know, I'm an accidental tourist
if love heals, why do I still carry the scars

Beyond the veil, redemption is calling
and the stars are forever falling, falling, falling

Stumbling in the darkness, a beam of light
why is a rose filled with beauty and thorns
I heard a lyrical song whispering in the night
mysterious shadows, a pair of doves mourn

Tired of traveling all these dead-end roads
climbing a spiraling staircase into the clouds
a hundred fireflies dancing in a warm glow
and the wizard transformed in a mystical owl

Beyond the veil, redemption is calling
and the stars are forever falling, falling, falling

The challenge today is to choose a musical artist, song, or genre of music and write a poem inspired by it or them.

I chose a mix of Stairway to Heaven by Led Zeppelin - as a dreamer this song speaks volumes and the band Seven Sisters.  I recently started listening to them a metal band with some interesting lyrics.

Thanks for visiting - I took creative liberties and put my own spin on things...

Strawberry Moon

Free Strawberry Splash photo and picture

Today, it felt hot for a spring day.  A tequila sunrise that makes one long for a few extra cubes of ice to cool the heat of the morning sun. The weather report said there was a chance of rain showers later in the day.  I searched the fiery sky for a sign of refreshing water, a needed relief for a parched land. Sadly, no rain came only, a few passing clouds making their way to another destination.

Sitting on the deck, enjoying some ripe strawberries with whipped cream I watched the last slice of the setting sun. I reflected on how quickly the canvas shifts. An early moon is just a piece of change in the softening sky, as day turns to evening.  Tonight, I will dream of softening hearts under a serene orb of light.
