Twelve Thoughts

Twelve years of poetry has come to pass
writing words from the depths of our hearts
every thought counted, no matter the form
lyrical songs waltzed across the pages
verses pulsated with enchantment and despair
every poem a creative gift; a work of art

Beyond the Veil

Free Stairs Stone photo and picture

I dreamt of a stairway to heaven
but I couldn't find it through the haze
heard it was a place where all is forgiven
guardians above the sisters of seven

I met a wizard in an enchanted forest
tell me, do you ever hear the stars
how would I know, I'm an accidental tourist
if love heals, why do I still carry the scars

Beyond the veil, redemption is calling
and the stars are forever falling, falling, falling

Stumbling in the darkness, a beam of light
why is a rose filled with beauty and thorns
I heard a lyrical song whispering in the night
mysterious shadows, a pair of doves mourn

Tired of traveling all these dead-end roads
climbing a spiraling staircase into the clouds
a hundred fireflies dancing in a warm glow
and the wizard transformed in a mystical owl

Beyond the veil, redemption is calling
and the stars are forever falling, falling, falling

The challenge today is to choose a musical artist, song, or genre of music and write a poem inspired by it or them.

I chose a mix of Stairway to Heaven by Led Zeppelin - as a dreamer this song speaks volumes and the band Seven Sisters.  I recently started listening to them a metal band with some interesting lyrics.

Thanks for visiting - I took creative liberties and put my own spin on things...

Strawberry Moon

Free Strawberry Splash photo and picture
Strawberry - Pixabay

Today, it felt hot for a spring day.  A tequila sunrise that makes one long for a few extra cubes of ice to cool the heat of the morning sun. The weather report said there was a chance of rain showers later in the day.  I searched the fiery sky for a sign of refreshing water, a needed relief for a parched land. Sadly, no rain came only, a few passing clouds making their way to another destination.

Sitting on the deck, enjoying some ripe strawberries with whipped cream I watched the last slice of the setting sun. I reflected on how quickly the canvas shifts. An early moon is just a piece of change in the softening sky, as day turns to evening.  Tonight, I will dream of softening hearts under a serene orb of light.

You and I (eye)

"Eyes Without Face" by Robin Isely (Muse #98)

in a room with a different view
walls colored with a melancholy hue
my heart softly sings the blues

how many eyes have been weeping
filling the chamber, with muted tones
while the world has been sleeping

art is about perspective, what do you see
tears of sorrow in the scope of my vision
can I ever be what you need  me to be

portraits of you, portraits of me
portraits of us and all the people in between
tears spill from the canvas of life

in a room with a different view
walls colored with a melancholy hue
my heart softly sings the blues

entering the doorway of perception
haunting images of  faceless cries
windows to the soul, our truest reflection

paper boats float in yesterday's streams
drowning in a river of unknown tears
dry your eyes, time to find new dreams

portraits of you, portraits of me
portraits of us and all the people  in between
tears spill from the canvas of life

Summer State of Mind

Courtesy of Pixabay

I’m in a summer state of mind
dreaming under the heavenly stars
somewhere out there loves undefined
traveling the galaxy, no matter how far
connecting our souls looking for a sign
a portal, a mysterious door left ajar
where two hearts are forever entwined

Let's drift out into the cosmic sea
dive into the depth of our hearts
drink from the cup of life, feeling free

I’m in a summer state of mind
lets embark on a journey you and I
hope the weather will treat us kind
offering days filled with sunburst skies
there’s a key out there, we must find
unlocking passageways, soaring high
moving forward, leaving imprints behind

Let's drift out into the cosmic sea
dive into the depth of our hearts
drink from the cup of life, feeling free

I’m in a summer state of mind
viewing life through a poetic eye
let’s explore, see what we can find
now, is the moment for you and I
harmonious our songs will align
navigating our way, tell me you’ll try
the meaning of love,  I need to define

Let's drift out into the cosmic sea
dive into the depth of our hearts
drink from the cup of life, feeling free

Between Tu-Lip

Tulip Festival

Between tu-lips, lies heartfelt words
listen closely for springtime rhymes
singing freely, with the songbirds
poets wander, leaving small signs

poetry found in a flower bed
between tu-lips lies heartfelt words
blooming colors, purple, yellow and red
in silence, something inside stirred

verses whispered, tell me you heard
in the garden, the sparrow's song
between (tu-lips) lies heartfelt words
embracing love, can that be wrong

why do beautiful dreams fade away
without light visions become blurred
love wilts, into the ghost of another day
between two-lips, lies heartfelt words

Happy Trails

Shay's from Muse #82

The prairies stretch out before me
there is silence in the wheat-fields
giant leafy trees are rare to see

the road goes for miles and miles
leading one to places in the mind
the journey full of trials and smiles

 galloping with the wind bareback
hooves pounding, hearts beating
riding together leaving our tracks

exhausted we stop, taking in the sun
our wandering songs, drift in the air
some things in life you can't out-run
but, in this moment, beauty is everywhere

The Language of Birds

Courtesy of The Sunday Muse

I will sing the language of birds
setting free the songs within me
composing ballads, stringing words
I will sing the language of birds
searching in the garden for verbs
perching high in a flowering tree
I will sing the language of birds
setting free the songs within me
